DJ, Producer and Accountant residing in San Francisco, CA (US) – biggest imprints to date are Clipp.art, Kitsune and soon to be W&O Street Tracks.
Best event you have ever been to and why?
This is going to sound cliché but Coachella – they really got their process down and the lineups were surprisingly diverse
Who would you like to go B2B with and why?
Skream lol, I think you’re basically knighted as a dance music DJ once you’ve b2b’d with him.
Who would you like to collaborate on a track with why?
My dream collab would be with Chambray, I think its really cool that his sound carries through labels/people you wouldn’t typically associate with each other i.e. Dirty Bird or that collab EP with Truncate.
Speaking of Truncate, here’s one my all-time favourite track by him.
What first sparked your interest in electronic music?
A group of friends I was hanging with in Los Angeles. The electronic scene is lightyears ahead of Northern California where I’m originally from.
Which artists do you listen to the most for inspiration or enjoyment?
All over the map man, Fleetwood Mac when I’m chillin, Stone Temple Pilots when I’m doing housework or Harvey Mckay when I’m working on spreadsheets for my day job.
Why do you enjoy producing electronic music?
I think I’ve gotten my process down to where if I can fathom a sound or groove, I can translate that into a song/track within 10 to 15 min. In the 8 years I’ve been producing, its good to know that something has paid off.
Which are your all-time favourite labels to dig tracks from?
Not necessarily a label but I do catch a lot of Rinse FM shows when I can. Sort of helps me keep an ear to the ground of what’s up and coming in the scene and also just as inspiration.
If you could meet any person from the underground music scene
who would it be and why?
Adryiano, he seems like he would be hilarious in real life.
What is your favourite club and why?
Out here in San Francisco, my favourite is Valencia Room, recently renovated w/ something like $30K (USD) in Void speakers. You’ll basically go deaf in there w/o ear protection, I love it.
What is your go-to guilty pleasure track and why?
Lovesong by Selena Gomez, and why? lol, I just really like the dubstep bassline, I could listen to the beat alone.
Which came first for you, producing or DJing
Do you prefer one medium more over the other?
Producing but I like both, to be honest, it’s pretty cool to enjoy the fruits of your labor by playing out a track to a live crowd.
What is the music scene like in the San Francisco at the moment?
It’s really up and coming right now, there is a lot of talented people out here making a wide array of music (hip hop, techno, lo-fi house, indie, bounce, r&b) and everyone is pretty chill too.
If you could offer one piece of advice to new DJ/Producers what would it be?
Trust your process, just because it isn’t like (insert popular producer name here) doesn’t mean it isn’t right.
How would you describe your production style and overall sound?
Dancey, wavey eclectic house music that sort of takes the form of whatever I’m listening to at the moment and at the moment, it’s become more infused with tech-house, lo-fi and techno.
