Tunes We Dig is our new project combining feature articles with our Spotify platform. Through a weekly updated playlist, we aim to bring you the freshest club-ready cuts from the alternative dance music scene. Every Wednesday we’ll drop ten more tunes into the list, selected either by Zone Focus or handpicked by a special guest selector.

This week’s prime cuts have been chosen by latest Zone Focus signee – Levi David. During his musical journey, his alter-ego projects have crossed over many genres. Over the last 18 months, however, a shift in his surroundings has driven a reconnection with music. With a lust for life renewed, Levi has turned his passion towards making melody-driven storytelling music, crossing over electronica and breakbeat genres. His selections reflect the tunes that have inspired him and drove him to create the Lust EP.

Jaga – We Once Knew

Kicking things off with this beautiful piece of art, by New Zealand artist Jaga. The first release on Echo Train Records earlier this year, sends me to another dimension every time I hear it, and I couldn’t miss the opportunity to share it with you all.

Ross from Friends – Epiphany

None of this is real, it’s just a dream! The lyrics capture the emotions in this song perfectly. Released in late 2019 it still has a solid spot in many of my DJ sets. I can guarantee great things from this UK producer in the future.

Frost – Overtones

Number 4 on Anjunadeep’s Top 10 Tracks on Beatport, and it’s easy to see (or to hear) why. The inspirational sample from Sneakbo really adds depth and emotion, combine that with the super addictive synth riff and you get one of my pinnacle ‘breaks’ tracks of 2020.

Sub Focus & Wilkinson – Stratus

Love this one from Sub Focus and Wilkinson’s recent album ‘Portals’. The insanely high production level of these guys really lends itself well to this melodic/breaks style and honestly, this track just blew me away. Taking on a Bicep vibe, Stratus has it all; smooth drum breaks, ethereal vocals, mind altering synth line and so much more.

Moving into darker realms, KAS:ST’s love child of where melodic techno meets breaks, the sub-genre we’ve all been waiting for (or is that just me?). Either way, one of Afterlife Records latest releases, VTOPIA is definitely going to echo around clubs in the summer of 2021.
